May 22, 2020: Year End Protocol

May 22, 2020

Dear Parents and Community Members,

I have no doubt that most of you have grown weary of sheltering in place while simultaneously serving as facilitator of your children’s education and at the same time parenting and working from home. We are all experiencing Quarantine Fatigue! Because there has been so much unpredictability in our world and we are hit with a constant barrage of rapidly changing information, we feel exhausted. The extra demands that have been placed on families have overwhelmed many of us and we each miss our daily physical interactions with friends and family and the normalcy of our regular routines.

We know these past few months have been extremely difficult, and again, we humbly thank you for taking on additional responsibilities and burdens to keep our children safe, engaged, and actively learning.

As June approaches and we look to close out this school year, we will be forwarding information about dropping off and retrieving instructional materials, personal items, and medications. Starting June 1st, families can begin picking-up personal items, including medication during designated time slots. Each building will communicate their specific system as well as more detailed guidance.

During the week of June 8th, we’re asking that families begin dropping off textbooks and other instructional materials. Staff members will be available to help navigate the drop off process and also assist with obligation forms for missing items. The buildings will create forms to collect pertinent information (name, teacher, block/period, etc.) for students to print at home and place in each book they are dropping off. Extra forms will be located at the drop-off locations for students without printers. Individual buildings will also be communicating more detailed guidance. We will ask that all who are picking up and/or returning materials wear a mask and come at their designated time to help practice social distancing.

I hope your family has a wonderful holiday weekend and, if the weather cooperates, you get to spend some time enjoying the sun.
