Teen Pep

Teen PEP

Teen PEP is a peer leader program at Robbinsville High School this fall designed to place healthy role models in front of our students in order to reduce risky and irresponsible sexual behavior.  The program’s primary objective emphasizes that abstinence is “the only 100% effective choice at preventing pregnancy and STI’s,” and seeks to emphasize the importance of delaying risky sexual behavior among our teens.  Teen PEP is not an advocacy program, but rather opportunity for students to reflect on the importance of healthy choices.  Teen PEP does not encourage “alternate” sexual activity as an alternative to intercourse but rather recognizes the array of risky behaviors that can lead to emotional and physical challenges for our kids.  We are very pleased that a group of outstanding RHS students will serve as the first year role models for our students.  They will conduct five vignettes and small group discussions for our freshmen throughout the year under the direct supervision of our teachers: Anna-Maria Hernandez, Sean Flynn, and Caitlin Curran; these performances and conversations are designed to deter and delay risky behavior.  Please be assured, the Robbinsville High School health curriculum has not changed, but will be supported and supplemented through a strong peer leadership program.
